On this page, I’m putting words that fall outside my normal vocabulary. Unfortunately, I’m having to learn a bunch of new words.
My definitions are very basic and usually found using the define: function in google. Consult a medical dictionary for a complete definition.
carcinoma: cancers of the epithelium
contraindicated: a situation in which a medication or treatment should not be administered
curettage: a surgical method of removing diseased tissue with a curette, a sharp-edged instrument
epiphora: Watering of the eye
epistaxis: nose bleeds; can be unilateral (one nostril) or bilateral (both nostrils)
epithelium: thin layer of tissue that covers organs, glands, and other structures within the body. In dogs, the majority of nasal tumors are of epithelial origin. These include adenocarcinomas, solid carcinomas, and squamous cell carcinomas. Source: Veterinary Cancer Therapy Handbook, 2nd ed.
metastisize: spread of a malignant tumor to other parts of the body
neoplasia: abnormal and uncontrolled cell growth
rhinoscopy: procedure in which a thin, lighted tube is inserted into the nose to look for abnormal areas
sarcoma: cancer of a connective tissues, such as cartilage, fat, muscle or bone. Includes fibrosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, osteosarcoma, lymphsarcoma.

Thanks for publishing your experience. It is the only one I can find online. I am contemplating getting radiation for my dog and wasn’t sure if it was humane. There is so much anestesia involved. My concern was that he would feel as if he had been abused or worse off in some way.
